This is such a heartwarming and newsworthy story. After reading it, I searched Freedom, Maine, and as suspected, it is described as fostering a true pastoral and tranquil way of life. It even highlighted The Lost Kitchen! Thank you, @Elizabeth H. Cottrell, for reminding me how much I enjoy postcards and that small, simple acts can reap tremendous benefits, both small and large. Now I’m reaching for my own blank postcards!
What a wonderful, inspiring story! Thank you for this. I'm going to pick up a bunch of postcard stamps at the post office today to make sending postcards on a whim super-easy. :)
Oooooh, do report back if you go to Freedom, Maine. I looks like it’s about halfway between Augusta and Bangor, not far from I-295. I haven’t been to Maine in decades, but I will never forget my first taste of a Maine lobster roll!
I have been to Freedom before. Its a small town. And yes lobster rolls are famous around these parts. I have to say the best one I had was in a food court in Boston of all places. It is made with creme fresh, and herbs. Totally delish.
I write about hospitality and tourism and you have inspired me to learn more about Freedom and other places in Maine that change the way we look at places.

Love this story! Love the outcome. Love the results. Love the reminder of the power and caring, of a community. Thank you!
I KNEW you would! It gives us hope that our love of notes, cards, and letters will catch on like a spark!
This is such a wonderful story of the power of person to person communication. Thank you!!
I was so thrilled to find it, Kathy, and I agree with you so much about why it resonated with all of us.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. ❤️
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Charisse. I’ll be looking for more like it. Thank you for reading and commenting!
I look forward to reading them. ☺️
There was an article I read last year about this restaurant. I love this story so much for the same reasons you do.
I'm not surprised you've already read about it...it's the kind of story that begs to be shared!

Elizabeth, in this era of digital everything, your charming story not only saves a landmark but also shows that the personal touch is alive and well.
That was exactly my reaction, Maureen. That personal touch is so important!

A fabulous story. I will send a post card today. And I live in Maine so maybe I will drive by and check out Freedom.
