Such an enjoyable newsletter this week, full of great ideas. I’m so happy you’re sharing your étouffée recipe. It sounds delicious!

Letter locking became popular again locally during my daughter’s school days, so friends could pass private notes without anyone peeking. She saved a shoe box filled with some of the locked notes she received. I was so happy to see the YouTube video instructions because I never learned how to do it.

Letter locking??? Who knew. And the price is going up for stamps? Glad I stocked up!

I certainly had never heard of letter locking before either! I love that people send me these fascinating tidbits because they know how much I love anything related to notes and letters.

I thought so too, Karen. I always respected her so much and thought she always looked like a classy woman who would make a good and loyal friend. Apparently her grandchildren all adored her.

Zip Code Day--I MUST plan a party! And Give Away Something Day--I'm redoing our bedroom and will have a ton of stuff to give away--how appropriate. However, I hope to be done way before the 15th.

Zip Code Day does sound like it deserves a party — maybe a letter-writing party and the guests have to bring their address books and see how many zip codes you can write to.

Good luck with your bedroom project. I’m sure the chi will be flowing no matter what day you decide to give stuff away. ;-)

Yep.Postal codes were used in some other parts of the world and a few areas of the US since the early 1900s. But the ZIP code's 5-digit sequence went national in the US on July 1, 1963. ZIP Code Day commemorates that day.
