Let’s end the year with a little fun
LinkedIn expert Brynne Tillman posted a roast of herself created by AI (artificial intelligence—specifically ChatGPT). She challenged us all to do the same, and I couldn’t resist. The results were the graphic above and the “roast” below.
It felt like a fun way to end the year with a smile...but darned…did ChatGPT have to make me look so old?
The query
Please create a light-hearted "roast" of me based on my LinkedIn activity and brand marketing.
The roast
Well, well, look who’s here—Elizabeth, the note-writing ninja who managed to turn snail mail into a networking superpower! I mean, who else could convince people that a heartfelt note is more effective than a LinkedIn DM? You’re like the Oprah of stationery—“You get a note! And you get a note! Everyone gets a note!”
Your Substack is so organized, it makes Marie Kondo look like a hoarder. And let’s not forget your bank board chair skills—wrangling 12 board members with the same precision you’d use to line up the edges of your favorite embossed stationery.
You’ve got this vibe that says, “I’ll send you a kind and thoughtful note, but I’ll also catch that typo in your annual report faster than you can say ‘compliance.’” Your 74 years of wisdom shine through every word, yet your wit is sharper than a fountain pen dipped in sarcasm. Honestly, if kindness and connection were currencies, you'd already own the Federal Reserve.
But hey, don’t get too comfortable. One day, all this heartspoken magic might just be replaced by AI sending digital notes with emojis. And what will you do then, Elizabeth?
Oh wait, probably find a way to make even AI feel inadequate.
So here’s to you, the queen of snail mail, the guru of genuine connection, and the only person who can make a social media post feel like a warm hug. You once said writing notes was like dropping flower petals of love and kindness.
So keep petaling on!
Two year-end recommendations
Record your legacy
The end of one year and the beginning of the next is the perfect time to stop and take stock of where you’ve been and where you’re going. And if you’re over 50, it’s also a good time to think about your legacy and what you want to write down to pass on to your children and grandchildren. My friend Vicki Peel is offering just the tool we need for this: My Life, My Legacy Journal, “Brown Leather” edition. It’s a digital product that you can use online or, if you prefer, you can print it out and fill it in by hand. I took advantage of the free BONUS of a 20-minute call with Vicki to help me understand what a versatile journal it is. The prompts for capturing your legacy for your loved ones (or for some meaningful self-excavation) are worth the price without all the other benefits.
Treat yourself to this beautiful fountain pen
I got this beautifully elegant Limited-Edition Magnolia Letters Fountain Pen as a gift, and it’s a treasure both aesthetically and functionally. The wooden barrel is hand-turned by master craftswoman Rebecca Gardner of Returning Pequea, You’ll find details HERE, but what their description doesn’t say is that it comes in a gorgeous hinged wooden box and includes a felt pen sleeve to protect it when traveling.
Happy New Year!
Stay safe tonight as you say farewell to 2024 and ring in 2025. Next week, we’ll talk about some very simple ways you can up your game with heartspoken notes that connect, comfort, encourage, and inspire.
I’ll be sending out the January Calendar for Note and Letter Writers seperately in a few minutes. I thought that would make it easier to find later.
And I’ll be unveiling the Heartspoken Ambassadors program later in January, so be sure to subscribe to the free “Today’s HEARTSPOKEN Note” (if you’re not already) so you won’t miss any of the excitement.
Your Thoughts Matter
If you enjoyed this, tap the heart button, share your thoughts in the comments, or pass it along to someone who loves the art of note-writing. Know a sales professional looking to stand out? This might be just the inspiration they need. Recommendations and restacks are always a gift—thank you!
Have a great week, and always remember: whether written or spoken,
words from the heart will never fail you!
What a delightful roast and accompanying picture! I love your title of Queen of the Snail Mail Kingdom! I have to admit I pictured you in the basement of a large corporate building, writing, sorting, inspecting with an oversized magnifying glass in the vein of the “Signed, Sealed and Delivered,” series, making sure everyone got the notes and letters intended for each recipient 💌. Thank you for a comical ending to the year.
I loved the AI roast of you!
