It's Here: "Say Thank You With Flair" Mini-course
And some other Octoberly goodies you don't want to miss...
If you’d rather listen than read:
From Everyday to Extraordinary
It’s finally here…my first-ever Heartspoken course, and readers of this newsletter get a special introductory 44% discount using check-out code FLAIRINTRO until the end of the month. I’m pricing this to make it a no-brainer purchase and get it in as many hands as possible. With the Heartspoken Movement, we’re reviving the art of the heartspoken note, and what better way than to make our most frequently written note—the thank-you note—more fun and easy?
My favorite module in this short 30-minute course is on limericks:
There once was a thank-you so plain,
It felt like a bit of a strain.
But add in some flair,
A rhyme here and there—
And now it's a fun, joyful gain!
But I also love the more ethereal haiku:
Thank-you notes can sing,
Add a playful rhyme or two—
Gratitude takes flight.
It’s World Postcard Day!
Today—October 1— is World Postcard Day, and besides using this simple, affordable way to stay in touch with friends, family, and colleagues, it’s fun to look back and learn about the history of the lowly postcard. The best I’ve found is from the Smithsonian archives, but the World Postcard Day website covers history too.
We have some avid postcard writers in our Facebook group, “The Art of the Heartspoken Note.” Come join the fun!
PSA for authors with books to promote
I’m honored to have been asked to speak at a virtual conference this week, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024: The Kingdom Writers Conference on “Marketing Your Books Without Social Media.” My own presentation will be “How to Use Relationship-Building Strategies to Sell More Books,” but the other nine presenters will cover other angles. Your free ticket gives you access to the recordings for five days and a chance to win a scholarship of one year’s membership to the Christian Writers Academy. You may purchase an All-Access Pass for lifetime access to these recorded presentations. The Early-Bird price for the All-Access Pass is $37, but that goes up to $47 once the conference starts.
World Card-Making Day on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024
I’d love to hear from any of you who make your own cards — please post pictures! Several members of our Facebook group will be posting their creations over the next few days. Come join us: "The Art of the Heartspoken Note.”
On a personal note
I am heartbroken watching the pictures of Hurricane Helene devastation across the south and mid-Atlantic states. In spite of living on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, the worst of the flooding was south of us and we have not had any property damage except several pick-up truck loads of branches to pick up from the wind. Members of our amateur radio club have jumped in to help facilitate communications into areas without power. Let’s all be generous — with our time and with our donations.
A Special Treat Next Week
I’m honored to have a guest post next week from
, whose newsletter is a favorite of mine. Shannon has written passionately about the beauty and permanence of handwritten notes, and she’s going to share with us “Fears I Overcame to Become a Letter Writer.”Have a great week and always remember: whether written or spoken, words from the heart will never fail you!
Congrats on the launch of your first mini-course, Elizabeth. It's so much fun with great ideas for creating and sharing rhymes!
What a fun mini-course! I think notes to children with rhymes would be especially appealing, although I enjoy a good rhyming poem as well!
