Day #2: Children and Whimsy: National Stationery Week
Words, pictures, designs -- two more of my favorite stationery artists
To celebrate National Stationery Week and spread the #HeartspokenMovement, I’m shining a daily spotlight on a few of my favorite stationery artists/companies. When you have stationery you love, you’re much more likely to grab a piece and send a note! Today, I’m featuring two wonderful companies: Coral & Blue Paper Co. and CharmCat.
Coral & Blue: Stationery for Children
Ashley Cruz Campbell, founder of the Coral & Blue Paper Co. in Saratoga Springs, New York, has a mission of making stationery for children that encourages gratitude, thoughtfulness, and creativity. She wanted to bring back the Thank-You note with cards and paper designed to make note-writing both simple and joyful to do. She has also linked her business with an inspiring philanthropic outreach to children in Africa. You can read my recent interview with Ashley on my blog: “ Growing Gratitude: One CEO’s Vision for a Better World Through Kids’ Stationery.”
CharmCat: “Pretty paper things for pretty funny people™”
Ashleigh Pritchard is the Chief Creative Officer at CharmCat, a fine art studio and stationery business specializing in unique greeting cards, fine art prints, small gift items, watercolor wedding invitations, custom watercolor wedding maps, watercolor venue paintings, and other art commissions. I “met” Ashleigh through the Greeting Card Association when I was a speaker at its fall conference last year. CharmCat is located in Martinsville, Virginia, and I love Ashleigh’s whimsical designs that run the gamut from fun and irreverent to poignant and powerful. I also love her company’s Guiding Principles: Treat others with generosity; Share knowledge freely; Leave each moment better than you found it; Deserve respect; Resist the fear of rejection; and Encourage excitement.

Of course, the writing tool that should be on everyone’s desk is my book HEARTSPOKEN: How to Write Notes that Connect, Comfort, Encourage, and Inspire. CLICK HERE to find out where you can buy it, read testimonials, and peruse the first 28 pages.
“Elizabeth Cottrell and I share a belief in the power of a piece of mail to connect, comfort, encourage, and inspire—to create and strengthen that which is most important: human relationships. I recommend reading her book on how, when, and why to send a personal note, to help you harness this power. Most importantly, I encourage you to send a heartspoken card or note to a loved one today; the impact of that effort is likely greater than anything else you will do today!” ~ George White, CEO, Up With Paper; Past President, Greeting Card Association
